KF2U/7 off the air from Billings, MT Grid DN55

Here is where Pete (KF2U) operated from in Montana.  He operated satellites UO-14 and AO-27.  Since this was a work trip he didn't operate full time.  He primarily tried to contact SHRC members during mutual visibility passes.  All in all he was quite successful.  Look for his story in an upcoming edition of "Shark's Teeth" .

25-August-2001 1712 UTC - Satellite Operations have begun!  KF2U/7 was heard on UO-14 several times with a good signal when in the clear.  George (KB2ZHX) was heard calling but no contact was made.  Of course this was a prime time pass with many stations working their own agendas.

26-August-2001 0258 UTC - KA2KQP was able to complete a contact with Pete on UO-14.  Pete had a good signal when in the clear.  George (KB2ZHX) and Dan (W2HQ) were also heard calling Pete but were unable to complete contacts because of the alligators on the bird.

27-August-2001 0403 UTC - For some reason Pete wasn't able to hear the satellite on this pass.  Maybe user error or a problem with the VX-5R.  The pass was 81º maximum elevation in Billings.  There are two more opportunities for Western New Yorkers to make contact before Pete returns home (1455 and 1611 UTC.)

27-August-2001 1611 UTC - Persistence pays off!  During this last opportunity, Dan (W2HQ) was able to complete a contact with Pete from the parking lot at Ronco Communications.  Dan was using his new Kenwood HT and Diamond RH-77C antenna.  Short greetings were also exchanged in addition to the usual signal report and grid square.  Congratulations to Dan.
